SoCS students enjoyed a productive and informative day at BBC Media City in Salford last week. The theme of the event was latest trends in software development at the BBC.
Second year Web Technology student Owen Pierce said of the day “The event’s most interesting parts for me was the noSQL talk (“Not Only SQL”) and speaking to professionals in the industry. The speakers were all knowledgeable in their fields and if there is another event like this I would definitely be up for attending.
Sam Hill, a final year Computer Science student said “It was a fantastic day and I felt the talks were enjoyable, the speakers enthusiastic and the setting welcoming. I saw that the talks were aimed more towards software engineering professionals, and that level of knowledge showed. What I didn’t know about, I made sure I went home and read up on. All in all, it was an excellent day I can walk away from knowing full-well I learnt an awful lot about the upcoming trends in database development.”
